Sport & Leisure

Whether it is criticism or adulation, focusing on hope, expectation and success, or detailing despair, the media focus on the sport and leisure sectors has never been greater. Endless column inches and hours or television and radio airtime are dedicated to covering the latest sport and leisure stories every day.

Our extensive and varied experience in this area includes working with Premier League football clubs, individual athletes, gamers, bookmakers, organisers of mass-participation events and leading gyms.

What Media First clients in your sector say

Though I have been in the spotlight with Para-Rowing for a number of years I had never been properly media trained, so when I had the chance to spend a day at Media First I jumped at it. What I found most useful was learning the potential traps you can fall into when being interviewed and how there is a slightly different style you need to adopt for telephone, radio and television.  It was an informative and full on day but it was also fun and fully interactive. Thanks guys, I now feel much more confident, comfortable and well equipt when going into media situations."

Naomi Riches, British Rower and winner of Gold medal winner at the 2012 Summer Paralympics

We’re pleased to be into our fourth season of media training with Media First, which we’ve worked with the team to develop for our U16s, Youth Team and Development Squad. The training really helps to remove some of the fear and apprehension our young players have about talking to external journalists, and it gives them the key skills they need to prepare for and give a more confident, professional interview – whether that be in a pre-match or post-match media conference, face-to-face interview, or a profile piece.

The players have grown in confidence and now see a media interview as an opportunity to represent themselves, the club and football in general – not something to be endured! Not only are they now producing excellent interviews, but we’ve seen a huge improvement in their communication skills all round."
