Frequently Asked Questions

Can you do the training at the client's premises?

Yes we train all over the UK and worldwide. From a media and presentations training perspective we have all the equipment needed to recreate a studio at your preferred location.

How long does each training session last?

Normally sessions are a full day. However we fully appreciate that time is money and many senior executives don't have the time to commit to a full day. Therefore for small groups of 1-3 we can run half day sessions instead. We can also deliver intensive coaching and media preperation sessions over the internet and by phone.

What is the optimum group size?

We can deliver training in whatever group size suits your requirements, whether it be 1-2-1 training or in small groups of 3, 6, 10 or up to 20 delegates. We also deliver workshops of upwards of 20+. Our courses are highly practical so as a guide, and to ensure each candidate receives the maximum practice and individual feedback, we recommend an ideal ratio of trainer to delegate of 1:3.

How much?

Open courses, that run on fixed dates and with a mixed group of participants, are just £750 + VAT per delegate. Because all of our other courses are tailored, prices depend on the design of the programme and the level and numbers of expertise required for each course. Prior to you committing we’d be happy to talk through your requirements and design a programme that will suit your objectives and budget.

Can you deal with a mixed ability group?

Yes, in consultation with you we can design the course so that those who need to be stretched will be tested to the limit whilst those with less experience can have their skills developed and their confidence increased throughout the day.

Can I come along and observe the course?

Yes. We are very happy for you to come along as an observer to see how the delegates are handling the training and it is often useful to have someone from the press/communications/pr office to provide us with their input on the day.

Can you do emergency one to one coaching the day before a big interview?

Yes. Furthermore, all our candidates can use our emergency helpline for up to a year after they have been on a course with us.

Do you offer scheduled open courses?

Yes, click here for more information on our open courses.

What's the nearest train station to your studios?

Our affiliated London studios are all conveniently placed for public transport links. If you are coming to our Reading studios, we are only a short 10 minute walk from the station, or a 3 minute taxi journey.

We can also deliver training at your offices, or at another hired venue anywhere in the world. Our team will be happy to help you find a suitable venue for your training.

Does Media First offer a train the trainer course so that we can deliver Media Training internally?

We want to give all our clients the best possible training experience with the most relevant and highly qualified tutors.

Depending on your experience levels, we may be able to help you to develop your skills as a trainer so that you can deliver media awareness and message development style courses internally to your colleagues.

We can also help you to be more effective at briefing your key spokespeople ahead of a media interview. For more information on how we can help with these bespoke projects why not get in touch.

However, when it comes to training your spokespeople in how to manage the media, we believe that there is no substitute for using our team of current working journalist tutors who are fully supported by Media First’s training methodology that has been developed over the last 30 years.
